The emblematic Cova Tallada has registered a total of 17,090 visitors during the period between April 1 and August 31, 2024, according to official data from the Information Point of the natural enclave. This figure reflects the continued tourist interest in this unique natural area on the coast of Alicante.
The data collected show a positive trend in visitor behavior, with a notable increase in the number of people who make a reservation in advance, while the number of visitors who try to access without the corresponding authorization decreases. This change in tourist behavior is evidence of a greater awareness of the importance of preserving this protected natural area.
The access regulation, which is applied during peak tourist periods (Easter, May long weekend and from June 15 to October 15), has been managed by staff of the natural park and the municipalities of Denia and Xàbia from the information point located on Via Láctea street in Denia.
Compared to 2023, the figures show significant variations by month: June experienced an increase of 250 people and August registered 1,000 more visitors than the previous year, the latter increase attributable to the temporary closure of the park in 2023 due to a fire alert. July showed a decrease of approximately 600 visitors.
The improvement in visitor management is reflected in the access data recorded, which have been classified into three categories: visitors with prior reservations, those without reservations who did not enter the site, and people who, after being informed, decided to enter without reservations. The trend shows a clear increase in the first category, suggesting greater awareness and better planning on the part of visitors.
These figures demonstrate the gradual success of the regulatory measures implemented, which seek to ensure the conservation of this valuable natural environment while keeping it accessible for public enjoyment in a sustainable and organized manner.
